A pardon is an act of forgiveness granted by the Nebraska Board of Pardons. It does not erase or expunge a conviction. Please review the eligibility requirements and instructions below before submitting an application.
Eligibility: Individuals may apply for a pardon after the completion of their sentences. For a felony pardon, applicants must have 10 years of a clean record after the completion of the sentence. For misdemeanors, applicants must have 3 years of a clean record after the completion of their sentence.

Pardon Application Checklist:
Failure to submit all required documentation will render your application incomplete. The applicant will receive 30-day notice to provide the necessary documentation. If the required documentation is not submitted within that time, their application will be closed.
- Completed Application including the signature of the applicant.
- Three or more reference/character letters.
- Court Documents must be submitted with the application.
Court documents must accompany the application. You must submit court documents if you paid a court fine, served on probation, served county fail time, or served state prison time.

A receipt or letter from the sentencing courts showing that all monetary fines, court costs, and restitutions have been satisfied with the court.
You can receive your court documents from the district or county court clerk in the county you were sentenced in.
- Make sure you have signed and dated your pardon application.
- Sign, date, and have notarized the Authorization and Release Form.
